Bird Reports 2010 next

Report from Stapleford Bird Club - 4th December 2010

Our walk on 4th December was cancelled because of the adverse weather conditions. HOWEVER as I walked around in the car park, waiting to advise anyone that turned up about the cancellation, I was treated in the space of some 10/15 minutes to: a kestrel hovering over the north downs; 8 or so greenfinches; robin; a dunnock; a solitary mistle thrush; magpie; chaffinch; blue tits and great tits; 3 overflying black-headed gulls; 6 redwings and 2/3 fieldfares. The latter were hustled from foraging under the hedges by several blackbirds who clearly considered they alone had the eating concession there!! By 0830, our usual start time, they had nearly all disappeared.
