Honorary Treasurer to stand down

Michael Bond has told The Magog Trust that he intends to stand down as a governor at the Annual General Meeting on 12th October 2013. Michael has been our Treasurer since he joined the board of governors in 1994 and his departure leaves us with two quite different holes to fill.

As Treasurer Michael was obviously responsible for finance and in the past year has introduced a new finance and membership administration system run by Miranda Fyfe, self employed administrative assistant, that has improved our management information and made this aspect of our work a lot easier. Our income is derived from membership, farming and investments, each with its own quirks so we do need someone familiar with the financial control of a small company to give the governors and Miranda appropriate advice and guidance.

Michael also had a background in local authority and charity work at a senior level so was able to give advice and guidance on aspects of our work where this knowledge was particularly useful.

Our need for additional governors is now urgent and we would like to recruit at least two new people this year. If your skills cover any of these areas, and are interested in becoming involved in what is an extremely fascinating and worthwhile activity then please get in touch to find out more.

Old Newsletters

Up until 2011 we produced a twice-yearly Newsletter, and you can still download copies of some of these here:

Spring 2010

Autumn/Winter 2009

Spring 2009

In 2011 the re-designed website was launched, and so the decision was taken to stop producing these Newsletters, and instead to use this website as the main means of communication for news and articles of interest.

This move away from a regular Newsletter meant that more of the Members' and Friends' subscriptions could be spent directly on the costs of upkeep and husbandry on the Down.

We would love every regular visitor to Magog Down to help support its upkeep by becoming a Friend. Read more on our Join Us page, and then complete the application form.
