The tractor with its cutter and collector attachment were put to good use recently. The larger areas in the Picnic Field and the area near the scrape at the top of North Down, where shrub growth is still annoying, were cut. This year the lower slopes of North Down were cut by the contractor, so this equipment is useful to be able to do this area at the top of the hill so we prevent the shrubs growing and seeding, alongside regular removal with tree poppers, etc. These are the first of small areas where we can do hay cuts as required.
The cutter box fills up with the chopped up vegetation, which is then emptied into piles ready to be collected onto the trailer for removing from the meadow areas.
It saved a lot of work, and will be very useful.
